OUR TRIP TO SICILY
Monday 10 June 2019

Moira Robb writes:

Our 2019 trip was a great success  - Tailored Travel strikes again !

To ensure that we covered the whole of the island in our eight days we stayed in three different hotels, all of which were carefully researched when planning the trip, and all three justified our selection. This was a new departure for our Stourbridge trips.

We had an exceptionally good guide: Ludo was very professional in every way.  He spoke perfect English, knew every inch of Sicily and was able to keep us enthralled with the history of the island, life on the island in the present day, and how Italian politics works!  However, he could not arrange for us to meet Montalbano !!

We visited most of the main towns; the Roman and Greek amphitheatres in Taormina, Agrigento and Segesta; churches and cathedrals; and the most incredible mosaics at the villa Romana del Casale and Monreale.

We went to the seaside and had ice-cream and paddled. Some brave souls even climbed Mount Etna.

The last four days we spent in Palermo where there was so much to see and where we could experience the many excellent restaurants in the evenings.

The 33 friendly people on this trip all gelled, we had a number of lunches all together and there was lots of fun and laughter – the free wine may have helped …
